From the Director’s Chair

It’s hard to believe, but the summer is just about over and the school year, with all its activities, is right around the corner. I hope everyone is ready to resume another exciting year of dance and performances. The RIA schedule will include multi-level classes in JAZZ, TAP, HIP-HOP AND BALLET as well as the popular ADULT JAZZ and TAP. The RIA schedule will also include JAZZ and BALLET REPERTORY classes for the advanced students and LYRICAL for older teens and adults. We will continue with our very successful acting classes, ACTING UP! I and II and the ACTIN’ UP REPERTORY COMPANY. Classes will continue to be held at both the Reston Community Center and the Rehearsal Hall in the Sunset Hill Business Park.

Please check the enclosed Fall Schedule of Classes for all days, times, and fees. The RIA professional staff for 2007-2008 will include myself, Robin Walters, Staci Scott, Nikki McNutt-Thiem and our new additions student interns Adrienne Hines and Jeffrey Morgan. Our professional staff has spent the summer training, performing, and choreographing throughout the area. Deborah Whitley has resigned her post as administrative assistant due to other work commitments. Taking over her position will be Miss Tanaya Todd, a recent graduate of Hampton University. Miss Todd will be responsible for all RIA print/media publication and email communication. Ms. Cynthia Mitchell will take on the duties of RIA Parent Liaison. Both can be reached at the new RIA email address: RIANEWS83@gmail.com or (703) 430-8768. Please make a note of our new email address.

Please register your child for the class assigned upon receipt of your ADVANCED REGISTRATION PACKET. We will continue to use email to communicate ongoing class information and schedule changes, so please make sure that you have included the email address you would like to use to contact you. If you wish your child to take additional classes or change the assigned class, you will need to confer with the faculty at registration as to the proper placement. I will be available at both General Registrations or you may contact me at (703) 430-8768 or ngoma@verizon.net. The Fall schedule, registration information and calendar of events will continue to be posted on the RIA Web site for your convenience. www.restondance.org.
