Robin Walters

RIA is pleased to announce the addition of Robin Walters to the RIA dance staff.  Robin will take over instruction for the Kindertap and TAP I classes.  Robin has been a member of the RIA family for nearly a decade. She has been an active dancer with RIA in both the Adult Urban Tap and the Adult Jazz.  She has appeared in numerous RIA spring productions.

Mrs. Walters began her formal dance training at the age of eight with the Smith Sisters Dance Studio in Kansas City, Missouri.  There she studied ballet, tap, jazz, Pointe and gymnastics. Robin appeared in a variety of theatre and dance productions in the Kansas City area including the musicals of Porgy and Bess and SuperMan, to community theatre with Showboat, Aladdins Lamp and Elves and the Shoemaker!  In college, she studied ballet with American Ballet Prima Ballerina Roni Mahler.  After six month of rigorous training in New York, she began a yearlong tour with the ensemble and acapplla sensations, “Manhattan Transfer.” During the training in NYC, Broadway’s ‘42nd Street Tap choreographer sought Robin to dance in the Broadway.  But by that time Robin was well on her way in the corporate arena.

During her tenure with IBM she continued to fulfill her artistic talents by becoming the head choreographer for Kansas City Kings Fastbreaks Dance Team, the official dance of the NBA Kansas City Kings. Robin appeared regularly in the citywide celebration, “18th and VINE” that featured famous jazz artists like founder Duke Ellington. Robin continued her training at the University of Missouri Kansas City Conservatory.  In 1983 Robin was selected by IBM to become a member of a small ensemble of performers in a series of corporate award functions around the world.
